How we handle your information

Kind Witness is built so that we never have your diary. This policy explains the little information we do handle, and why.

Last updated 29 October 2026

In short

  • Your diary is stored on your phone, encrypted. We never receive it, so we can't read it, share it or lose it.
  • This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and shows no ads.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to answer you.

Who we are

Kind Witness is made by Blerc Pty Ltd (ABN 55 649 912 461), a company in Sydney, Australia. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Blerc Pty Ltd. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

The Kind Witness app

Everything you record in Kind Witness, such as your entries, photos, times, possible triggers, medicines, profile and care team, is saved on your phone and encrypted. The key that unlocks it stays in your phone's secure storage: the Keychain on iPhone and the Keystore on Android.

Kind Witness has no server that stores diaries. The app has no account, no advertising and no analytics, and we never receive your entries.

Your diary is left out of iCloud and Google backups. If you make a backup, Kind Witness creates an encrypted file that you keep wherever you choose, opened with a recovery code only you hold. We can't open it, and we can't recover it if the code is lost.

When you send a report, it goes from your own email app or share sheet to the people you choose. It doesn't pass through us.

If you choose Delete everything in the app's settings, it destroys its keys first, so nothing left behind can be read, then deletes your diary. Deleting the app also deletes your diary from your phone.

Buying Kind Witness Pro

If you buy Kind Witness Pro, Apple or Google handles the payment under their own terms and privacy policies, and the app checks your purchase with the store on your phone. We receive the stores' sales reports, which never include anything from your diary.

When you email us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you, and keep it only as long as we need to. Our email provider holds these emails for us, and may store them outside Australia.

Please leave health details out of your email. We don't need your diary to help you.

This website

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising, and loads nothing from other companies. If you turn on Comfort mode, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It is never sent to us.

Like any website, our server and our network provider, Cloudflare, record technical details of each visit: your device's internet address (IP address), your browser, the page asked for and the time. We use these records only to run and protect the site.

Our server keeps these records for 30 days and then deletes them. Cloudflare handles the records it makes under its own privacy policy.

Who else handles information

Cloudflare, Inc. delivers this website and protects it from attacks, so it processes the technical details of each visit, sometimes outside Australia. Apple and Google run the app stores. We don't sell or share personal information with anyone else, and we never use it for advertising.

Keeping information safe

Because we hold almost nothing about you, there is almost nothing to lose. The little we do hold, such as emails you send us and the website's visit records, is kept with access limited to the people who need it.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@kindwitness.com. Your diary itself is only on your phone, where you can export, change or delete it at any time.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, email privacy@kindwitness.com and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
